Hi there! My name is Gemma Tegelaers and I’m an independent illustrator from the Netherlands.

While studying Architecture in Eindhoven I rediscovered my real passion is handling ink and charcoal and other things that get you dirty. So I decided to become an artist instead. After working as a drawing teacher at the Architecture department at the University of Eindhoven I was employed as a graphic artist at RealGames. Since 2010 I’ve been working as an independent illustrator, mostly for games en educational products. Every now and then I still enjoy teaching the occasional architecture drawing class.

My first love was Indian Ink and I still prefer it over most other techniques. Going out on field trips to abandoned industrial buildings, armed with just my trusty travel sketch book and a pen or two, make me the happiest person in the world.

Lately I’ve been on a quest to define my digital art style. One of the biggest challenges is to use my experience with free hand drawing to make expressive digital art. Creating art combining the best of both worlds is a continuing journey.
